8. Dining Table in plexiglass ‘Baiadera’

Description

The acrylic dining tables of the series ‘Baiadera’ are all unique pieces of a limited edition. They are made using colored acrylic sheets and transparent acrylic blocks.The colored sheets are cut into strips, which are paired up and then glued between two clear acrylic blocks, as if they were embedded. The result is a dynamic effect of colors, that recalls the colorful costumes of the ‘Bajaderas’, the indian dancers thus named by the portuguese, and made popular by Goethe’s lyric “Der Gott und die Bajadere” (1797), which inspired the table’s name.
